The purpose of the envisioning stage is to establish the business context for the change initiative and to assess the current business situation. The Business Investigation phase focuses on defining a clear understanding of the business conditions which provides the basis for determining the business requirements and the strategies needed to fulfill the business goals.Once the business needs have been defined an investigation of potential solution alternatives can be completed to identify at a conceptual level how these business requirements can be meet. Based on the preferred solution approach a business proposal is prepared detailing the value and financial justification for the business initiative. The Envisioning stage includes the following phases:
· Business Investigation - this phase involves the gathering and analysis of information to gain an understanding of the current business situation and to make explicit the vision and needs of the business. The alignment of the concept to the business strategy is validated and the value of the initiative is assessed
· Initiative Investigation - To investigate approved business concepts to clarify the business scope and determine the technical feasibility of the initiatives alternatives identified. Prepare a business proposal outlining the recommended initiative strategy, estimated investment and resource requirements. The proposal provides a mechanism for communicating initiatives to other business units, enabling them to plan their involvement and for the initiation of projects and subsequent hand-over to nominated teams
· Business Justification - This phase involves the definition and analysis of the financial metrics and business benefits for the business concept. The findings are used to validate the business value and are used to measure against other investments under consideration
Transform
A reusable set of methodologies to deliver the identified Transformation strategy and the expected business benefits identified These Stages Include:
- Strategy and planning - This stage focuses on defining the detailed strategy and plans to implement the proposed business concept and to prepare the business case for approval. This involves project planning to establish the boundaries and scope of the project and to analyze the expected risks. From a solution perspective the emphasis is on understanding the client environment and defining the technical elements of the solution and the operational strategy for supporting the solution post implementation
- Design - Design is a critical part of the solution lifecycle. It is vital that the design encompasses all the key aspects of the solution and that the design meets the needs of the client. The design is based on the outputs from the Envisioning and Strategy and Planning stages and provides a complete view of all the components of the solution.
- Solution Development - This stage involves developing all the components of the solution. The components developed include a development and test environment for the Proof of Concept, which is used to validate that the solution meets the user requirements. The development environment is an extension on the prototype development and is where the detailed design is taken from a conceptual stage to a physical stage. Integration, application verification, and automated builds are key elements of this stage along with rigorous testing and quality assurance
- Business Readiness and Change - Business Readiness and Change management are critical components in ensuring that the business is prepared for the impact of implementing the new solution. Preparing the business for change requires a detailed communications strategy and planning exercise. Providing the right levels of communication and user training are critical elements in ensuring a successful solution implementation. This stage also implements the detailed processes and procedures required for the operational support teams to effectively manage the new solution.
- Solution Delivery - The Solution Delivery stage is when the solution is implemented into the production environment. Once the full production implementation is complete the project is reviewed, closed off, the solution handed over to the operational management teams, and any lessons learned from the project documented
Maintain & protect

Operational readiness assessment - Perform a high level assessment of the current state of the organisation operational strategy is performed, resulting in creation of a baseline. The gap between the envisioning initiatives and the current state of the organisation can be determined. This can also include
- Define Service level Agreements - customise service levels and equate the levels of service to business requirements
- Define bespoke support arrangements - Understand and define in detail the 3rd party commercial arrangements required of the solution and ensuring relationship management requirements
- Support model - Understand and define in detail the 3rd party commercial arrangements required of the solution and ensuring relationship management requirements.
- Continuity Model - Define continuity plans for the ongoing operation of the business application if an unforeseen event arises. Align with the overall business continuity plan in place
Operational review assessment - Perform a high level assessment of the current state of the organisation operational This can also include
- Review Service level Agreements - Assess service levels to current state business requirements
- Asset/Fleet review - audit the current environment to assess coverage levels, support gaps and mitigate against future downtime issues
- Operation support model review- understand and detail the process flow to baseline against state of art support offerings solutions in the market
- Support Incident review - Review an identified support incident to provide a review of what charges are required to the support Model
- Health Check - detailed review of any application or System to understand the current health status and identify areas to be remediated, to mitigate risk.
